Nestled between the Langeberg Mountains and the Indian Ocean, Heidelberg is known as the "Gateway to the Garden Route", which is one of South Africa's most popular tourist attractions.

As a special treat, take a trip across the Breede River on old Maxie Dunn's famous pantoon. The only Pantoon in South Africa is 40km from Heidelberg.

The coastal town of Witsand is 25km from Heidelberg. Known as the "Whale nursery of Southern Africa", this is the ideal place for whale watching from May to November.

The Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve, known for its indigenous forest and various hiking and mountain biking trails, is close by and well worth a visit. Spend some time n one of the tree-top bird hides to view our feathered friends.

Arista Cottage, situated in a quiet street with a lovely view across fertile farm lands, offers true country charm at it's best. So spend some time relaxing on the patio and watch the sun set behind the magnificent Langeberg Mountains, or in winter relax in front of a cosy fireplace.
